Six new solid colours 

The new palette moves from soft whites and warm neutrals through to deeper earthy browns and red. These are the six additions to the 2027 collection. 

Inspired by Australia’s landscapes, the palette draws on weathered sands, outback earth and the high country. Use the descriptions and suggested pairings below as a starting point, then compare physical samples in your space.

High Country 

High Country is a muted white softened by greige undertones, drawing on the snow-covered landscapes of Victoria’s high country. The subtle grey and beige influence gives it a gentle neutral character. Consider it as a light base for a palette that also includes timber grain or deeper earthy colours. 

Scribbly Gum 

Scribbly Gum combines warm greige with a faint green undertone, taking its cue from the smooth, weathered bark of its namesake tree. The green influence is restrained. For a scheme with a natural feel, try it alongside a woodgrain décor and check how its undertone responds to the room’s lighting. 

Desert Dune 

Desert Dune is a warm beige with understated brown undertones, inspired by shifting sand in Australia’s inland deserts. Its sandy character provides a neutral starting point for an interior palette. Consider pairing it with warmer woodgrains, or use a deeper brown nearby to introduce contrast while keeping the scheme earthy. 

Nullarbor Drift 

Nullarbor Drift brings a pink undertone to a warm brown base, reflecting the coastal sands and sunlit plains of the Nullarbor. The pink influence is an important part of its character when comparing samples. Try it with a darker woodgrain or a soft neutral to explore the balance of colour and warmth. 

Sunbaked 

Sunbaked is an earthy brown in a warm mid tone, inspired by outback soils shaped by sun and weather. It introduces a more pronounced brown into the palette. Consider it for cabinetry where you want a warmer colour presence, and compare it with lighter neutrals such as High Country or Desert Dune. 

Red Centre 

Red Centre is a deeply coloured red-brown with dark, warm undertones, inspired by the ochre earth of Australia’s central deserts. Its depth makes it a colour to consider when planning a stronger accent. Try it on a feature cabinet or shelving, balanced with lighter surfaces and a complementary woodgrain. 

Four new Australian native woodgrains 

The Australian Natives Collection within Laminex’s Next Generation Woodgrains range gains four new décors. They reproduce native timber grain and colour in a decorative surface; they are not solid timber or timber veneer. 

Raw Bluegum TrueScale™ 

Raw Bluegum TrueScale™ reproduces Southern Blue Gum eucalyptus grain in a colour treatment inspired by unfinished veneer. It offers a starting point for a timber-inspired scheme where you want the grain to be visible. In AbsoluteGrain® finish, a matte surface with fine textural variation adds a tactile timber effect. 

Calm Bluegum TrueScale™ 

Calm Bluegum TrueScale™ presents Southern Blue Gum eucalyptus grain in a warm mid tone. Consider it when you want a woodgrain with warmth across cabinetry or furniture, and compare it with light neutral samples to assess the contrast. The AbsoluteGrain® finish adds detailed texture to its matte surface. 

Raw Spotted Gum TrueScale™ 

Raw Spotted Gum TrueScale™ combines lighter red tones with pale yellow highlights, reproducing the characteristic crown-cut grain of Queensland Spotted Gum in a raw-veneer colour treatment. That colour variation is part of the design. In AbsoluteGrain® finish, the matte texture adds to the timber effect; try it alongside Scribbly Gum for a restrained solid-colour companion. 

Smoked Bluegum TrueScale™ 

Smoked Bluegum TrueScale™ gives Southern Blue Gum eucalyptus grain a dark, smoked colour treatment. Consider it where a deeper woodgrain could provide contrast against lighter cabinetry or walls. Its AbsoluteGrain® finish combines a matte surface with fine grain detailing, adding texture as well as colour to the scheme. 

Understanding AbsoluteGrain and TrueScale 

AbsoluteGrain® is Laminex’s textured finish, developed to give surfaces the look and feel of timber grain. TrueScale™ refers to the large-scale printed design, which avoids a repeating grain pattern within the full sheet. The four new native woodgrains are offered in AbsoluteGrain, combining the printed décor with a tactile surface.

Choosing colours for your project 

Start with the room’s fixed elements, such as flooring, benchtops and wall colour. Then compare a small selection of solid colours and woodgrains together. A light neutral can keep the overall scheme quiet, while a deeper colour can draw attention to an island, shelving or a feature cabinet. 

Review physical samples in the space where the materials will be used. Look at them in daylight and under the room’s artificial lighting and consider the grain direction across adjoining doors and panels. A full-sheet image is also useful when assessing the scale and variation of a woodgrain design. 

Before committing to materials, confirm the finish, sheet size, thickness, edging and suitability for the intended use. Benchtops, cabinetry and areas exposed to moisture can require different product specifications. Your cabinet maker or installer should check the relevant Laminex technical requirements.
